So I just found out that our good friend Jane will be the Easter Bunny at the White House next weekend. They rotate several people in this position throughout the day and she got one of them. I wish so much we were going to see her. Next year we're planning on going with her to the White House Easter Egg Roll if she is still working there. It will be great fun! Check out pictures on the White House website from years past. Its a long standing tradition and looks like a great memory. Can't wait!

Reconnecting
It is amazing since I started this blog how many people from years past I recently found. So many people come in and out of our lives and it seems with how busy everyone is today it is hard to stay connected from a distance. Don't get me wrong, some friendships have a natural way of staying close. There are those you can go months without talking but when you get together or when you take time for a phone call it seems like no time has past at all. You just pick up where you left off and it feels as if you saw each other yesterday. Then there are those people you wonder what ever happened to ______. How fun it is to actually find out. It seems you always cross someone's path with a connection to Harding. You either run into someone who knows a mutual person with you, or you go somewhere and cross a friend's path.
When I started this, I thought I'd use it as a way to stay in touch with a couple of my close friends and share pictures of our children since we are all in 3 different states. Now I've found old roomates, college friends, and some people I knew who they were but never really knew them. Plus my in-laws and sister's family can read about our craziness for those times between phone calls. One story I stumbled upon is about Suzanne, a former Harding student who is having Quads. Unbelievable. It is so fun to read her site. I knew who she was at Harding but didn't know her. She is so good with updates on her blog. Please keep praying for her and her 4 babies.
We're hoping for a sunny day tomorrow, like today. Its beautiful outside. We have our egg hunt tomorrow at 2 pm. It is at our church and then there is one in the neighborhood too. I"m not sure we'll make both. I'll try to post pictures afterwards. I'm not sure the boys are wearing their easter outfits incase it is muddy. We might just be in our casual pants and shirts so they don't ruin the outfits for next weekend.

A New Week
Well we survived the 10 days with Augmentin and both boys are finally healthy. We had a chicken pox scare this weekend with Connor and after talking to the doctor today, he either had a mild case or it was a viral reaction to the med/ virus that was in his system. They both had the vaccine at 12 months. We are hoping Peyton won't show any red bumps in the next few days. We are going to Tad's family for Easter and hope to keep on that schedule if the boys are healthy. We are anxious to see everyone again. They haven't seen the boys since Thanksgiving.
This past weekend we did some minor spring cleaning. We got our screened porch wiped down and the boys LOVE playing outside. I think we spent most of the past 2 days there. I'm not sure how the rest of the week will go. We are expecting rain the whole week and they don't seem to understand on those days why I won't open the door. We also picked up a bike trailer so Tad took the boys for their first bike ride on Sunday. They did pretty well.
Peyton is still fearful of new faces. We talked to 2 different neighbors the past couple days and he gets hysterical if either lady tries to talk to him. We're talking huge tears and labored breathing. Connor on the other hand makes friends pretty easy. He loved meeting a new dog Lenny today.
We are planning on taking the boys to an Easter Egg hunt this Saturday if weather permits. I'm not sure how much they will "hunt" eggs but I bought them these duck baskets and they have enjoyed carrying them thoughout the house. A favorite thing they do is fill it with small books or plastic pop beads and then dump it out on top of themselves. Peyton enjoys taking Connor's basket so he can walk around with one in each hand. Connor takes a minute to figure out where his basket went and then just moves on to something else. We are working on helping Peyton not take things from Connor all the time. Peyton is good at that and Connor usually is good about letting him take it, but that's not a trend we want to continue, especially playing with other children.
We are thrilled the Buckeyes won and made it to the final four. We will definitely be watching the game Saturday and are hopeful we'll see them again Monday Night. I hope to post pictures this weekend from the Egg Hunt. Have a good week!

A glimpse of our craziness
The past 24 hours provided something to write about...actually something we are now laughing about. The boys came down sick Friday afternoon. Just the same fever & upper respiratory cold stuff like they had a month ago. We were up all night with both of them the past couple nights so our days have been slow. We decided to kill some time and get them out of the house yesterday (Sunday) afternoon by taking them for a drive. The weather was actually nice enough for a stoller walk but with fevers and the way they were feeling we couldn't do that.
So as we are loading them into the car I realize that our license plate tags expired in Feb. Of course it is now March and I've been driving everywhere without a second thought. So, we took the boys back inside. We were going to transfer the carseats to the other car and the battery was dead on the maxima. So that wasn't an option. As I'm looking at the paperwork for renewing it, I realize that we were suppose to take the new title for the van in to get the plates registered when we bought it. We thought the dealer took care of it all- turns out they only do the title transfers. So not only do we have expired tags, but the plates are still registered to our explorer which we don't own. As we're going through this envelope of papers I realize that our proof of insurance isn't current either...our insurance is paid, but our proof tag wasn't there- this one expired Nov. 06. So Tad has the new insurance at his office and he got to make a trip in to work last night at 9 pm to get it. The boys were scheduled for their 15 mo. well checks today and we decided I'd need to get up early, drive the expired van to get renewed, come back help the boys get a bath, and then make it to the doctor's at 10. Since we were up again all last night, I overslept, had to throw clothes on and a little make up to get out the door on time. As I was driving there, I realize..hmmm wonder when my driver's license is set to expire...Oops it already did. Yes that too had expired on Feb. 13th so I am now freaking out that I will have to take a driver's test again and when would I find time to do that. I call Tad and tell him what is going on and we both decide I have no choice but to keep driving and see what they tell me. I was the second person in the door today and I'm sure the lady who helped me is amazed someone could forget to do all this. I guess my saving grace was that there is a 30 day window from expiration and today being the 12th plus Feb. being a short month helped me. I can't imagine getting into a car with a little old man to take another driver's test. Anyway $78.00 later I was on my way home with a new tag sticker and a new license. The only problem, I have the worst license picture ever that won't let me forget about these past 24 hours. In fact I don't think I'll forget to get this once replace when its up for renewal b/c it is so horrible- remember I rolled out of bed to get there.
As for the boys, everyone had time to shower and we made their well check but they also both have ear infections in the same ear. Then they also got introduced to a breathing treatment in the office and we were sent home with antibiotics, a nebulizer, and albuterol. We suspected they might have asthma developing b/c the past 2 weeks when they've been healthy they have been wheezing when they run around and are active. Its hard to diagnos now that they are sick. The doctor said it may be asthma or it is RSV. So we're going to try breathing treatments as needed the next 2-3 weeks and check back. The boys are exhausted. Actually we all are from this mornings events. Hopefully by bedtime at least their ears will start feeling better. On the well check note, they weigh 27.4 lbs and are in the 90% for weight and are 32 in. and are in the 50% for height. They are great boys and even through sickness they keep smiling and laughing for most of the day.
One final note, my brother Brian told us late last week he passed his CPA. We are so excited for him that he has this under his belt. Congratulations Brian! He's been working in Little Rock for Deloitte. Also, thanks for your prayers for our nephew Austin. He is doing better and is home. That is all that is new here. We're going to hope the rest of the week is a little less eventful than this Monday.

Prayers for Austin
Our adorable nephew, Austin, returned home yesterday after spending a few days in the hospital. He went in Sunday with pneumonia and asthma problems. Thankfully he wasn't there too long and he is home. We wish we lived closer to be able to visit. Please keep him and his family in your prayers as he continues to improve and his lungs get stronger. Austin is a brave 5 year old. Pray for his mom Stephanie and dad Clark that they can stay rested as they help him heal.

This One Is For Jane
Our close friend Jane recently left Columbus again- this time to live in DC. She is a remarkable person and one we are glad to call our friend. In fact she is more like family to us after nearly 30 years of friendship. After many years of hard work at Pepperdine & Pepperdine Law School she successfully passed both the California and Ohio Bar. This doesn't surprise us though. She is extremely gifted and intelligent. Last week Jane started a job at the White House. This is an awesome opportunity and one we know she will do great at. We only wish she lived closer to us and the boys...but we are VERY hopefully that after she does it all in DC, she will move back again to Columbus and reside here for years. Congratulations Jane on your White House position! We are proud of your achievements and look forward to visiting you sometime in the future.

Oscars
In years past, friends of ours typically host an Oscar Night party where everyone in attendance fills out a ballot to predict the winners. It is a lot of fun and more of an excuse to eat "party" food and visit while watching. Tad and I actually won once with the most accurate ballot. However, since our boys were born and we are about 2 years behind on movies, we wouldn't stand a chance. Actually I love watching those award shows, mainly to see who wears what and who comes together. I just checked the nominees and I can honestly say I'll be watching again for the fashion element b/c I don't know much about any of them. We did see Pursuit of Happiness and Will Smith is nominated for best actor. It was a good movie but heavy. The only other movie nominated we know about was The Departed. I guess this is expected to win at least something b/c of the 5 nominees, but I did NOT like this movie. It lured us in b/c of all the big names but I don't know when I've seen a movie that disturbed me as much as that one did. The language, sex, and over all story line just wasn't what I anticipated or desired seeing. In fact, we were glad it was a renter to us instead of walking out of a theatre. Sorry to those who liked it. We don't mean to offend anyone, but I am embarrassed to say I even saw it. So anyone else into award shows? Any predictions on winners? I think the best part of this year's is that Ellen is hosting. I think she is hilarious.
Mail Call: For yesterday's readers, we did get our mail today- much to my surprise. Tad said I should put flowers sticking out of the mailbox to raise a white flag to the mail man. I didn't. Anyway HOPEFULLY it is to be 50 this weekend so some of this snow should melt. Hopefully too we are done with USPS trouble.
Attention all moms wanting to make character cakes: Let me assure all of you that the Mickey Mouse cake was easy. For those that complimented our work- Thank You. You should know though it isn't nearly as challenging as you may be thinking. Actually I think the trick to success is getting the cake out of the pan without losing the detail printed on it. If you can achieve that, then you can decorate between the lines. I remember my mom always made our birthday cakes when we were little so I wanted to try and start the tradition for my boys. Tad did help with the icing although he didn't want any pictures of evidence posted on the site. (I can say that b/c he usually doesn't read this)
This weekend we are hopeful that we're able to paint our foyer. For those of you who have been to our home, yes we are still living in most of the same colors of the previous owners. That's what happens when you get the kids on the way before you get the house. With the pregnancy and then their arrival we have not taken on too many projects around here. We hope to get the inside painted before we want to be outside this spring. We have the foyer, kitchen, and great room left. We also have that Monkey wallpaper to tackle in the guest bath, but we just leave that door shut. That is last.
The boys are down for their nap so I should get some things in order. I am working on some more recent pictures. We hope all of you have a great weekend.

We sure do miss warm weather. The boys keep looking out the screen porch and see their swings moving in the wind empty. I"m sure they wonder when they will get back outside. They enjoy watching the deer pass through our yard morning and night. There are usually at least 3 together but sometimes as many as 12. Today while the boys napped I worked on digging out our mailbox so the mailman can actually deliver the mail. I'm tired of watching for him and chasing him down across the court. Well, my efforts did get our mail delivered but it didn't help the mailman out b/c he got somewhat stuck in front of our house. He also had difficulties on the next 3 houses and didn't seem all that happy when he went back up the street. I'm sure he skips us all together tomorrow. I decided I should have left well enough alone and done something else while the boys slept. After all, it was a junk mail day only anyway.
Since we haven't emailed any pictures of the boys lately to many of you, I"m putting some pictures below of their birthday cake. We haven't uploaded recently pictures lately so that might be tomorrow's project. But for now here are some from December. Tad and I were quite proud that the homemade Mickey Mouse cake was a success. As for eating it...Peyton LOVES cake. Connor didn't have one bite. He's still not too fond of sweets- obviously not taking after his mother. More Later. Enjoy the pictures even though they are 2 mo. old.

After several months of ignoring this blog, a good friend discovered our blog and renewed our interest. I have spent nearly the entire morning, while my boys were playing and napping, trying to figure this out. I think I"m on to something. Leslie- I will try to help you get started too. Hopefully this week we will do more than stay inside and look out. We had over a foot of snow dumped on us last week and everything shut down. Tad even had 2 snow days from work- and the gov't. never shuts down. So, unless we now experience flooding, hopefully we can make it out to do something. The boys are walking everywhere these days. We will soon be out to buy a gate for the stairs because they recently discovered how to climb them but not get back down. It makes keeping up with them more of a challenge. At 14 mo. they are trying to go to 1 nap a day. YIKES! That is not exactly what I need but at least they play really well together and are good at entertaining each other when they are awake. Off to give the boys some attention and fix them lunch. That's all for now.
